Henri Hurskainens great form from the European Championships is still in full effect. The 25 year old went on to win the Danish International 2012 this past weekend.
He beat previous world top 10 men's singles player Joachim Persson in his quarter final and winning in 3 sets. He then went on to beat fellow swede Gabriel Ulldal in straight sets in his semifinal and then in the final he bested Rune Usling of Denmark, who had beaten 1st sed Brice Leverdez in his semifinal, in straight sets. | Hurksainen leaves European Championships with a silver medal!
After his amazing performance earlier in the week beating both Gade and Axelsen, Henri was now playing the men's singles final against Marc Zwiebler of Germany. On paper this is a fairly close matchup and considering the play Henri had delivered earlier in the week, hopes were high.
Unfortunately the final never turned into the match people had hoped for. The speed and consistency that saw Henri through to the final just wasn't there in the last match of the tournament and you could clearly see him being effected by the 2 very hard matches he had up to the final compared to Zweibler who had had two fairly easy matches prior to the final. In the end Zweibler won in straight sets. Understandably a disspointment for Hurskainen but overall still an amazing performance doing something no swedish men's singles players has been able to do for 16 years, reaching a men's singles final in the european championships. Lets hope he is now able to absorb this experiance in a way that lets him raise his game to a much higher level.

| European Championship upset no2!!
Henri Hurskainen is keeping up his great play and delivered shock number 2 on friday evening when he went up against Victor Axelsen in his semifinal. 1st set was a close one with Victor in the end winning it with 21-19, 2nd set was won by Henri with 21-17 and now it was time for another three set marathon. 3rd set both players follwed eachother closely on the scoreboard neither playing being much more then 1 or 2 points ahead at anytime. However as the match went on Axelsen got more and more frustrated with his inability to score the points and he was also noticeably bothered by the very loud homecrowd cheering Henri on and as the 3rd set went on Henri kept his gameplan on track while more and more of Axelsen play was now moody and sometimes sloppy. This resulted in chock number 2 of these European championships, 21-18 to Henri in the 3rd set and the unseeded swede is now in his first ever european championship men's singles final where he will play Marc Zwiebler who beat Jorgensen of Denmark in his semifinal.

| European Championships chock!
Henri Hurskainen who played his way to the quarter final beating a russin player in his 2nd match was now up against the impossible. Peter Gade, who had never lost a men's singles match in the European championships. On paper this was not going to happen, unseeded Henri Hurskainen against 1st seed and world no4 Peter Gade, but the time for upsets from Hurskainen was obviously during the European championships in Karlskrona. Henri took the first set 21-19 due to a lot of easy mistakes from Gades side early in the set. 2nd set wasn't not a good one for Henri and he lost this 12-21. 3rd set was a tough battle for both players with the long rallies of the previous 2 sets showing on both players. Gade pulled ahead to a scary 18-11 lead and by now noone would ever believe this was possible to recover from. But Henri did just that, with good patience and maturity he kept gridning with long rallies and now it was obvious that the giant that is Gade was running out of steam and he started taking chances to get the set finished. Henri caught up to 16-18 and by now the crowd was going wild in Area Telenor, the score was now 18-18 and Henri had just recovered 7 points in a row. Gade now rushed a short serve from Henri bring him to 19-18 lead. Which was quickly recovered in the next rally by the swede taking it to 19 all and then going on to closing the 3rd set winning it by 21-19 making the super upset a fact. Gade was out of the European championships and Henri Hurskainen is now to play a semifinal against up and coming danish start Victor Axelsen.

Henri Hurskainen went into the Swedish Championships as the undisputed 1st seed and went through to the final without loosing a set. In the final he went up against 2nd seed Mathias Wigardt. The final was an entertaining match that went back and forth in control. Henri winning the 1st set 21-19 and Mathias winning the 2nd 21-15. | Henri Hurskainen made it to the men's singles final!
Henri Hurksainen really revenged himself from the weak performance in last years Swedish Championships. The 22 year old was the 2nd seed in this years Swedish Championships and got to the final by beating Andres Nilson in the quarter final and Sartono Ekopranto in his semifinal. In the final Henri went up against last years runner up Magnus Sahlberg. After a close and exciting match which had Henri 5 points up in the 3rd set at one point ended with a close win for Sahlberg (22-20, 16-21, 21-19). It was an overall strong performance of Henri who has been showing good progress this year.
